Manny Pacquiao Vs Oscar De la Hoya
December 6, 2008
MGM Grand Garden Arena,
Las Vegas, Nevada

Manny Pacquiao Vs Oscar De la Hoya full length replay

Oscar De La Hoya vs. Manny Pacquiao, also billed as The Dream Match, was a professional boxing welterweight superfight. The bout took place on December 6, 2008 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, Las Vegas, Nevada, United States. Pacquiao defeated De La Hoya via technical knockout when De La Hoya decided not to continue with the fight before the start of the ninth round. The card was a co-production of Bob Arum's Top Rank Boxing and De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions and was aired live on pay-per-view (PPV) on HBO PPV. The fight is notable for propelling Manny Pacquiao to full-blown superstar status in much of the western world (mostly in The United States), as Oscar De La Hoya symbolically "passed the torch", so to speak, to Pacquiao.

Despite no title belts being disputed, the bout received a lot of publicity since the two boxers were decorated, with Pacquiao being the current number one pound for pound boxer in the world as judged by The Ring, and a five-time world champion in five different weight divisions (Pacquiao was the reigning WBC lightweight champion at the time of the bout). Meanwhile, De La Hoya was an Olympic gold medalist and past holder of 10 world titles in six weight divisions.

Pacquiao had to step up two weight divisions (from lightweight), and De La Hoya had to go down one weight division (from light middleweight), to be eligible for the bout's welterweight division.

Pacquiao pursues De La Hoya's body but was warned by referee Tony Weeks to "keep them up" (keep punches above the belt). De La Hoya's right connects, but Pacquiao's combo pins De La Hoya in the corner. Another left by Pacquiao dazes the Mexican-American. Another combo wobbles De La Hoya. Pacquiao throws another combo as De La Hoya goes for the body. The Filipino unleashes a four-punch combo to end the round.

The fight is stopped before the start of the ninth round to award Pacquiao the victory.Pacquiao was ahead on all three judges' scorecards before the stoppage, with two judges scoring the fight at 80-71 (Pacquiao won all rounds) and one scoring it at 79-72 (Pacquiao won 7 rounds and lost 1). After the bout trainer Freddy Roach stated, "We knew we had him after the first round. He had no legs, he was hesitant and he was shot." Confirming Roach's pre-fight predictions that he'd grown too old, De La Hoya crossed the ring to Pacquiao's corner after the bout was stopped and told Roach, "You're right Freddie. I don't have it anymore." When asked by reporters whether he would continue fighting, De La Hoya responded, "My heart still wants to fight, that's for sure", De La Hoya said. "But when your physical doesn't respond, what can you do? I have to be smart and make sure I think about my future plans."**

Floyd Mayweather Jr Vs Shane Mosley Boxing Replay Video

Real name Floyd Mayweather Jr. Nickname Pretty Boy Floyd Money Mayweather Rated at Welterweight Height 5 ft 8 in (1.73 m) Nationality American Birth date February 24, 1977 (1977-02-24) (age 32) Birth place Grand Rapids, Michigan Stance Orthodox stance Boxing record Total fights 40 Wins 40 Wins by KO 25 Losses 0

Real name Shane Donte Mosley Nickname Sugar Shane Rated at Welterweight Height 5 ft. 9 in. (175 cm.) Nationality American Birth date September 7, 1971 (1971-09-07) (age 38) Birth place Lynwood, California Stance Orthodox Boxing record Total fights 52 Wins 46 Wins by KO 39 Losses 5 No contests 1

Floyd Mayweather Jr. fought his first professional bout on October 11, 1996 against fellow newcomer Roberto Apodaca who was knocked out in round 2. Mayweather's trainer at the time was his uncle, Roger Mayweather, because Floyd Mayweather, Sr. was still imprisoned after having been convicted of illegal drug trafficking in 1993. Mayweather, Sr. took over as Mayweather, Jr.'s trainer when he was released from prison (after Mayweather, Jr.'s fourteenth fight—a second-round knockout of Sam Girard). From 1996 to early 1998, Mayweather won most of his fights by knockout or TKO. Sugar Shane Mosley started his pro career in 1993, By 2000 he had fought 38 fights to a 38–0 (36KOs) record, beating undefeated Phillip Holiday to win the IBF Lightweight title. He made 9 title defenses but never unified belts and moved up 2 divisions to face Oscar De La Hoya for his Welterweight title.[wikipedia] Fight Story:After the much awaited Mayweather Jr Vs Pacquiao Megafight was called off, Mayweather was left blank on the boxing scene. Pacquiao went on and signed another Boxing deal with Huge welterweight Joshua Clottey. Mayweather Jr. did instead was to continue on attacking negative press releases(without evidences, even went very dumb low talking about fake email) on the Pacquiao camp. Mayweather Jr. noted for ducking fighters in his own weight class, kept on talking that he was "the real deal" but instead went on to challenge a no brainer Pauli Malinaggi. Boxing fans went furious, in response Mayweather Jr. called the even more "SMALLER" Vic Darchinyan. Now Money Jr. was instead calling "SMALL" fighters Lightweight going down to Featherweight. Everything became very clear and obvious that Money Jr was just looking for sure win fights. His No loss record was his pay-per-view quality, and in his mind loosing might degrade his money making schemes. Boxing community instead lost their respect, thus Mayweather Jr loosing his PPV. Golden Boy Productions now very concern on the Pacquiao Vs Clottey event, has to make a noise in response to this. In a "VERY EXPECTED PLOT", GB Productions announced a fight between Mayweather and Mosley. After the Mosley Vs Berto fight was called off. Andre Berto lost some relatives from the devastating earthquake that hit Haiti (Berto's family was ok, thank God). The Boxing world just hopes that this fight will realize, and not another hocus-pocus "marketing strategy" just to put down another great fight.
